Blueberry Barrens 2011

Maine is known for its wild blueberries, but many don't realize what happens after the berries have been harvested. The blueberry fields, or barrens, catch fire! They turn all shades of red, orange, and purple - almost "unrealistic" colors. Artists (and art lovers) love it! The owner of one of my galleries told me that she has sold every blueberry barren painting she has ever painted - and so have I, so far. Check this one out. It is painted in oil on a 12" x 16" canvas board and will be priced at $300. Enjoy!

Bull Moose!

I painted this bull moose in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is from the Cape Breton highlands, Nova Scotia - I love that country!
This one is SOLD.

More February work...The Great Oak

This oak was huge when I was born - I played under this tree 70 years ago. I took this early morning photo on a trip to Norway in 2009 with the intent of some day turning it into a nostalgic painting. A swing was hanging from the same branch that our swing used to hang from when my brothers and sister and I were kids.

When I emailed this one to my older brother, he dug up an old photo he had of our mother in front of that same tree, nearly 80 years ago - look how big this tree was even then!
